A message from Mayor Alan Arakawa

Aloha kākou –

On behalf of the people of the County of Maui, it is my pleasure to present the 2011 edition of the Maui County Data Book.

I am particularly excited about this year’s edition because it will include all the updated data that was gathered during the 2010 U.S. Census. So expect to see a lot of new information regarding towns and local area population. Also this is the first year that we will see information on traffic flows on major highways. This book is always a great resource and it is wonderful to see the information in it always evolving and getting better.

That said it is important to note that none of the valuable information contained in the 2011 Maui County Data Book would be possible without the vital working partnership of the Hawai‘i Small Business Development Center Network’s Hawai‘i Business Research Library in Kīhei and the Maui County Office of Economic Development. Together they provide the most up-to-date information that is critical to almost any business or government agency.

As with earlier editions of the Maui County Data Book, the 2011 edition is also available online at our Maui County Website at www.co.maui.hi.us.  We hope you will use it often to help you start-up, grow and expand upon your exciting business idea.

Sincerely,

Alan M. Arakawa
Mayor
